These works form a conversation about ideals, dreams and reality for a modern girl through the exploration of cultural imposed gender roles and feminism through the lens of my life.
Altered and fabricated objects that highlight themes of femininity, dominance, and sexuality create a dialogue about the expectations and roles of women in contemporary society. Humor and appropriation are two strategies employed to highlight the absurdity of these constructs, allowing me to directly challenge the dueling expectations of purity and sexuality, power and submission, and nurturing and responsibility I've had to navigate throughout my life.
